Real-Time Rendering of Large-Scale Astrophysical Simulation Data: Ralf Kaehler, Stanford
This talk will present GPU-assisted real-time visualization techniques for large-scale astrophysical simulation data. In particular it will show how programmable shader units on current graphics hardware can be employed to render adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) as well as point-based datasets at interactive frame rates on standard desktop computers. Several animations that were generated using these techniques will be presented. The examples range from large-scale structure formation simulations, to the evolution of the first stars in the universe and the cosmological re-ionization era.
